It's 4.45 am here in the UK and I found myself in a deeply reflective space a moment ago; walking in an earlier me, revisiting events and experiences from 5 to 10 years ago.
I have been told before by a good friend of mine that people around me deem me as a 'perfect girl with a perfect life' which I beg to differ. I am not perfect and believe me my life is full of surprises. Sufferings, pains and misfortunes does not escape from it.
Take it into a bigger picture, we as a human being find sickness, old age and death in the world. We see things that are ugly, people who are insane, commit sins, show disloyalty, unfaithfulness, greed and insincerity. Not to forget the inevitable natural disasters: Storms, earthquakes, floods and draught.
BUT we also know that this is not the whole picture. Besides all these negative things, we see beauty, health, prosperity, life, birth, wisdom, intelligence, growth and progress. We observe goodness among people, faith, sincerity, charity, love and the spirit of sacrifice. We notice a lot of virtue and piety. It is wrong to see one side of the coin and not see the other side.
Despite all the upsetting events that had happened in my life, I know that I am loved by many people around me and there are indeed good and wonderful things that had happened throughout my life. Therefore, when you feel the whole world is against you, remember to look at the other side of the coin of your life and bersyukur. Be thankful that you're still alive and well and be able to feel and see the wonders of the world. Believe in Him that everything happens for a good reason:
Going back on things that had happened in my life, I am not ashamed to mention these experiences. In fact I am grateful that it had happened for it has indeed made me the person I am today. I believed I have grown, mellowed and matured over the years since then. :)
Let's not forget to bear in mind that Allah did not make this world a permanent place. This is a temporary world and everything here has it's time limit. Neither the good things of this world are forever, nor the bad things eternal. We are here for a short time and we are being tested. Those who will pass this test will find an eternal world that is perfect and permanent. Those who fail the test shall see the evil consequences of their sins and corruptions.
So forgive and forget what people had done or any sufferings that befall upon you. Do not let it hold you back (though remember to be more cautious). Leave it to and trust in Allah. Focus more on the positive things in life; your career, your dreams, your loved ones and most importantly ibadah kita kepada Allah. Remember this quote from the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him: 'This worldly place is a prison to the true believers and a paradise to the disbelievers.'

[2:216] But it may happen that you hate a thing which is good for you, and it may happen that you love a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows, you know not.
