A Gentle Reminder: An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind.

When you respond hate with hate, anger with anger, bitterness with bitterness, you ironically become part of the problem. Instead of wasting your energy and time on them, say to hell-with-this and be better! Channel this pain/anger into fuel - and use it to motivate yourself to become your highest potential self! I admit that when challenging times first surface, it's not the first instinct to do a happy dance, but when you take time to pause and look at the other side of the coin, you will immediately see that all challenges in your life are assignments - to make you stronger, to motivate you to wake up and perhaps finally have the guts to leave the safety of your familiar ways. After all, every disappointing ending offers you the opportunity for a better, wiser beginning!

Forgiveness

Forgiveness is not for the weak. Being able to forgive those who have wronged you is a mark of spiritual strength and confidence. When you forgive, you grow. Your heart begins to heal, your back straightens up,and your eyes become clear so that you can see the road ahead.

It does not matter if the person deserves forgiveness. Forgiveness is a gift you give to yourself. If someone has hurt you, do not worry about receiving an apology, explanation or making them understand you (plus, you'll rarely get an explanation that makes sense).

Resentment is a chain that binds you to the other person, but forgiveness will break the chain, so that you can release that person along with your anger.

"Hold to forgiveness, command what is right and turn away from the ignorant." (Qur'an 7: 199)

In other words, be consistently forgiving but do not give up on your principles (command what is right). If you've forgiven the ignorant and they persist in their hurtful ways, then move on and leave them behind. Separate yourself from those who are negative and seek the company of people who are supportive and kind. Hold no rancor.

Note to self: Get up and do your thing

If you fall for the first, second or third time, don't ever give up. Pick yourself up and learn from why you failed and move on in a positive direction. When it gets harder, dig in your heels and work harder. The tougher it gets, the tougher you get. Stay upbeat. Stay positive. Stay focus on your dream. Do not just sit back and wait for it to happen. Feed your dream as you would feed a newly planted seed. Care for it, devote time to it and watch it grow before your eyes. Be like the flower that follows the sun, for whom does so even in cloudy days.

You

You are much more than just the sum of the mistakes you've made,
Don't blindly accept other people's negative judgements of you,
Your past mistakes are not brands of shame, but teachers, stimuli to change and do better.
So what truly defines you?
Two things: Your beliefs and your character.
What you believe and how those beliefs manifest in the way you act in the world, the way you respect yourself, the way you maintain your integrity no matter what, the compassion and love that you show to those less fortunate, your courage, your talents, your beautiful dreams, your faith, modesty, sincerity, friendliness, work ethics, hospitality and willingness to forgive.

You shape your own character. You define yourself.
